100 Days In Office: Successful Road Constructions Recorded in Edo State

About 14 road projects initiated by the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo across the three senatorial districts of Edo State have reached advanced stages of completion, barely 100 days in office.

Governor Okpebholo, who on Wednesday, 19th of February, 2025, will hit the historic 100 days in office, said he is in a hurry to develop the State.

On Tuesday, Governor Okpebholo inspected ongoing road projects at Temboga, Uteh, Ekiuwa, Orior-Ozolua, Iguovbiahianmwen Communities, all in Edo South.

Residents of the areas commended Governor Okpebholo for fulfilling his electioneering promises by fixing their roads, which were abandoned by the previous administration.

Governor Okpebholo had, during his campaigns, promised the communities that if he was elected Governor of the State, his administration would fix their roads and make movement of people, goods, and services easier.

The Governor and his entourage had returned to inspect the drainage projects at Temboga, Ekiuwa, Uteh road in Ikpoba-Okah Local Government Area; Orior-Ozolua and Iguovbiahianmwen Communities in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of the State.

The highly elated residents also appealed to the Governor to sustain the developmental strides across the State, assuring him that the people of Edo State will continue to support his administration and ensure it succeeds in its first term in office.

Governor Okpebholo also inspected five roads at Temboga connecting Lucky Way, measuring about 4.5 KM. The roads include Boundary road; Igbinidu Street, and Ehrunmwunse Street, among others.

At Ewah road, the Governor inspected a major drainage project which commenced from Omusi Primary school, spanning 1.4 KM to channel water from the area to the Ikpoba River in order to check the erosion menace facing the people in that axis.

He was also at the failed portion of Ogheghe/Obagie Nevbosa road, off Sapele road bypass in Benin City and also inspected the ongoing road projects at Upper Ekenwa road, ensuring that contractors deliver quality a job for Edo people.

With the determination of the Governor to ensure he turns Edo into a construction site and ensures the people of the State enjoy motorable roads, his entourage also visited the ongoing road and drainage construction at Catholic Charismatic Renewal Road in Ugbiyoko, measuring about 1.1 KM which had been abandoned for years.

The ongoing road projects in these communities have been described as critical to the socioeconomic development of the areas.

Residents said the communities had existed without feeling the impact of the previous administration, but Governor Okpebholo has come to change the narrative.

At Temboga, Ekiuwa, Uteh road linking Lucky Way, which had been cut off as a result of erosion, residents said the road had not been motorable for over 20 years.

The Governor’s entourage proceeded to the Obadan road junction along the Benin-Auchi high way to inspect work on the bad portion, which has been completed in line with the Governor’s promise.

Governor Okpebholo had, at many fora, promised to change the narrative by making life more meaningful for the citizens of the state.

Observers say that in less than 100 days in office, Governor Okpebholo has done very well in keeping to his campaign promises.
