On Monday 13, 2022, the Nigeria Immigration Service made the announcement that Nigerian citizens returning to the country with an expired Nigerian passport will be permitted entry into the country.
This information was utilized to be included in a memo that was sent to all heads of missions, immigration attachés, airports comptroller, and airline companies.
According to the memo that was once signed by the Special Assistant to the Comptroller General (Foreign Desk), DCI BM Lawal for the Comptroller-General of the Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, all airlines were requested to permit holders with expired Nigerian passports to board without any hindrance. This request was made in the memo that was signed by Muhammed Babandede.
The text of the memo reads as follows: “I am directed to respectfully existing the compliments of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service and notify all relevant authorities that the Federal authorities of Nigeria have accepted that Nigerians returning home can be admitted into the united states of America with their expired Nigerian passports.” The federal government of Nigeria has accepted that Nigerians returning home can be admitted into the united states of America with their expired Nigerian passports.
