23 wives of govs, others to headline BOWFT ‘Stop Gender-Based Violence’ seminar today

The United Nations (UN) Representative, Ms. Beatrice Eyong, and wives of 23 Nigerian governors and former governors are among guests expected at the ‘Stop Gender-Based Violence’ seminar, taking place today, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The seminar is part of activities for the ongoing third edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT), holding in the state’s capital between October 23, 2023 and November 1, 2023.

The seminar will take place at Edo Hotel Marquee, Okada Avenue, G.R.A, Benin City by 2pm.

A movie titled, ‘We Will Not Be Silent,’ will be screened.

Goodwill messages will be delivered by the Chair, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Governors’ Wives Forum (NGWF), Her Excellency, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; the UN Representative, Ms. Beatrice Eyong; IPAS Country Representative and State Co-ordinator, ROLAC.

A panel session will be held with Justice Mary Itsueli, Dr. Elizabeth Iyamu Ojo, CSP Peter O. Ugumba, Dr. Gina Eromonsele and Dr. Mrs. Obanor as panelists.

The tournament, in its third edition, is aimed at highlighting the efforts of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to end gender-based violence.

Thirteen (13) teams are participating in the 10-day pre-season tournament which has been accredited by the world football governing body, FIFA.
