26-year-old Man Dies During Ritual Intended for Success Abroad

  1. A 26-year-old man, Chikwado Eze, tragically lost his life during a failed fortification ritual in Ugbaike, Enugu Ezike, Enugu State.

The man had recently secured a visa to travel overseas and returned to his village to share the news with his father, Uwakwe Eze.

Insisting on a traditional ritual for success, Uwakwe took his son to a native doctor named Onuwa for a fortification ceremony. The ritual, according to the native doctor, required Chikwado to be buried alive for 1 hour and 30 minutes. When Chikwado was exhumed after the specified time, he was found dead.

The Enugu State Police Command has since arrested both Uwakwe and the native doctor. Police reports indicate that the body of the deceased was rushed to a hospital where doctors confirmed his death. The native doctor has reportedly admitted to the crime, blaming Chikwado’s death on a failure to adhere to certain ritualistic rules.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, and the suspects are expected to face charges in court.
