As preparations intensify for the second edition of the Niger Delta Games, Team Edo has scheduled its athletes’ trials exercise to hold from Wednesday, February 4 to Friday, February 6, 2026, across the state.

The trials are aimed at selecting athletes who will represent Edo State at the 2nd Niger Delta Games, scheduled to hold in Benin City from February 20 to 27, 2026.
According to the Secretary of the Edo State Liaison Committee for the Niger Delta Games, Mr. Idahosa Bright, the trials will take place across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
“Edo State is in the final stage of preparations both to participate in and host the Niger Delta Games. All the 17 sports associations participating in the Games are expected to conclude their trials on Friday, as directed by the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, who is also the Chairman of the State Liaison Committee,” Idahosa said.
He added that the Chairman has further directed all members of the Edo State Liaison Committee and technical officials to closely monitor and supervise the trials to ensure that only the best athletes are selected to represent the state.
Idahosa also disclosed that the Edo State Sports Commission has approved two weeks of closed camping for selected athletes and coaches to allow for intensive preparation ahead of the Games.The closed camping will commence on Sunday, and only athletes within
