“933 Anambra NYSC Members Complete National Service as Nine Face Repeat Year Over Abscondment”
A total of 933 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I in Anambra State have successfully completed their one year mandatory national service, while nine corps members have been directed to repeat the service year after absconding from the programme.
The development was announced during the passing out ceremony held in Anambra State, where NYSC officials also disclosed that two additional corps members had their service year extended due to disciplinary infractions committed during the service period.
According to the NYSC State Coordinator, the 933 corps members met the requirements for successful completion of the scheme after fulfilling their primary assignments and participating in the mandatory activities prescribed by the corps. However, the nine affected corps members failed to complete the programme after abandoning their service without authorization, an offence that attracts the repeat of the service year under NYSC regulations.
The coordinator explained that the extension of service for the two other corps members followed separate disciplinary issues that warranted additional months of service in accordance with the NYSC Act and the scheme’s operational guidelines.
The NYSC urged outgoing corps members to remain good ambassadors of the scheme by applying the skills, discipline and experiences acquired during service to national development, entrepreneurship and community advancement. It also encouraged them to pursue opportunities that contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic and social progress.
The National Youth Service Corps, established in 1973, remains one of Nigeria’s foremost youth development programmes, promoting national integration, cultural exchange and community service among graduates deployed across the country’s states.
