As of the time this report was filed, an eyewitness named Tobias Imala stated that the cause of the fire, which started around 10 a.m., had not yet been determined.

Imala stated, “I just saw smoke oozing out of the sawmill beside the UBA building this morning when I got to the office.” At that point, about three stores had burned, and the fire was spreading to other shops.

“Thank God that men from the Ogun State Fire Service were already there,” “everyone was packing their goods.”

Mrs. Olawale, a plank seller, said that most of the shop owners weren’t there when the fire started.

“My shop was not affected, but it happened opposite my shop,” Olawale stated. Here, four to five shops were affected. The cause of the fire is unknown.

The majority of us weren’t in the stores when it started because today is environmental day. The foam shop was where the fire started.

Ogun market properties are destroyed by fire “They all rushed to the Indomie company as soon as one of us noticed the fire.” Before the state fire department arrived, the Indomie Fire Service arrived to put out the blaze. The fire’s root cause is unknown to us.

Deborah Oyeleye, a different merchant, stated that the fire destroyed all of her shop’s planks and cost her N400,000 in goods.

My shop was damaged, and all of my planks burned. The fire, which started in a foam shop next to my shop and destroyed several others, started there.

My burned possessions were worth 400,000. Oyeleye stated, “I have nothing in the shop left.”

Pictures and recordings acquired from the scene showed merchants racing to pack out their products when the fire was destroying shops on the lookout.

According to Bayo Ogundele, the Indomie Fire Service Commander, the fire destroyed at least 12 shops.

“We tried to interview one or two people on the cause, but people didn’t want to talk,” Ogundele stated. However, what we heard was a woman sweeping, and then the fire was found somewhere. Since the information reached me, approximately 12 shops have burned down.

Adefala Fatai, Director of the State Fire Service, responded when contacted, declaring, “The fire has been put out by the fire service.”On June 23, 2023, traders count losses as a fire gutting the Ogun marketHow a visit from a married woman put me in a police cell – lawyer, June 22, 2023
