Nigeria Day in June is significantly celebrated to engage people in the diaspora and Nigerians. A meeting was held in Rome, Italy where Nigerians and Italians gathered and discussed ways to fix integration between these countries. The theme “Centrality of International Cooperation” is apt and sacrosanct to global discussions around migration and migrant rights.
A representative from Nigeria, Mrs Kemi Nanna Nandap, ACG, Immigration Service, Abuja shared how a collaborative relationship should coexist amongst the people and attain an equitable and sustainable development. She reminded me how a consistent and positive relationship should remain economical, technological, political and sociocultural exchange. She encouraged further that this continues to thrive as this will promote mutual respect, patriotism, compassion, and harmony amongst the people which will dissolve barriers to social confusion across social devices.
Amongst other speakers was His Excellency Amb. Mfawa Omini Abam (Ambassador of Nigeria to the Italian Republic) acknowledged the significant contributions and solidarity made by Nigerian communities in Italy, he applauded the mutual respect and cordial conduct of these countries, which remains a hallmark of bilateral relations.
