Former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to unite the state and focus on collective development following the Supreme Court’s final affirmation of his election victory.
In a statement titled “Beyond Politics: A Time to Unite”, Ize-Iyamu urged Edo citizens regardless of political affiliation to set aside past rivalries and rally behind the Okpebholo-led administration in the best interest of the state.
“The time has come for all of us to put the election behind us, heal old wounds, and focus on the higher task of building a greater Edo State,” he stated.
Ize-Iyamu emphasized that elections are merely a phase in the democratic process, adding that “real governance begins with unity, maturity, and a shared vision for progress.”
The former APC candidate acknowledged the numerous challenges confronting the state including infrastructure gaps, rising unemployment, insecurity, and the need to restore public confidence in governance. He stressed that tackling these issues requires collective responsibility and cooperation across political divides.
“Our collective destiny cannot remain entangled in political rivalry. The prosperity and peace of Edo State should remain our common priority,” Ize-Iyamu declared.
He concluded by offering prayers for a peaceful, productive, and impactful tenure for Governor Okpebholo and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, expressing hope that their leadership would usher in inclusive governance and meaningful development for all Edo people.
