A 46-year-old man named Fred has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl in the Sawmill area of Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos State.46-year-old man named Fred has been arrested by the Lagos State Police

The suspect is said to have repeatedly defiled the victim for a period of two years. Shockingly, Fred allegedly impregnated the victim twice and coerced her into undergoing abortions on both occasions. The act was reportedly carried out with the knowledge of the victim’s guardian, who has also been arrested, along with an auxiliary nurse who performed the abortions.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Fred resides with the victim’s guardian and has been engaging in sexual activities with the minor for approximately two years. During this time, the victim became pregnant twice and was forced to undergo abortions. The young girl had confided in her guardian about the abuse, but no action was taken. The guardian merely promised to remove Fred from the household but failed to do so until they were both apprehended. The auxiliary nurse who performed the abortions was also arrested.

The Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network, in its routine report, confirmed that it reported the incident to the Ifako police station, leading to the arrest of the alleged perpetrators. The rights group commended the swift action and collaboration of the police and appealed to the authorities, as well as the Lagos State Government, to oversee the case and ensure that justice is served.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspects. He stated that an investigation is underway, and the suspects will be prosecuted once the investigation is concluded.

This is not the first case of its kind in Lagos State. In May 2024, a 24-year-old man was remanded for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 14-year-old girl. The issue of child defilement is a grave concern that needs to be addressed, and it is crucial for the authorities to take appropriate measures to protect vulnerable individuals and ensure that perpetrators face the full force of the law.

In conclusion, the arrest of a 46-year-old man named Fred for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl in Lagos State has highlighted the urgent need to address child defilement and protect vulnerable individuals. The collaboration between the police and advocacy groups is crucial in ensuring that justice is served and that such crimes are not overlooked.
