A crane fell, this morning, Saturday 18 December 2021, via Genova in Turin, Italy, at number 107, not far from the post office.

The toll is dramatic: three dead and three wounded. Of the injured, two men were discharged: one with bruises (five days of prognosis), the other with trauma and vertebral fractures with a prognosis of 60 days.

A woman, on the other hand, has a light head injury with a bruised lacerated wound and remains under observation as a precaution.

Meanwhile, the names of two of the three victims have been announced: they are Marco Pozzetti, 54 years old from Carugate, and Roberto Peretto, 52 years old from Cassano d’Adda. And Filippo Falotico, 20, from Turin. 

The crane was leaning against a six-story building. The building suffered damage at the height of the second floor, where it rested after the collapse. Several cars were hit as a result of the collapse.  Given a first and summary reconstruction of the facts, just in the moments in which the crane collapsed, the assembly of two cranes was underway.

Great work has been done, and still in progress, by the firefighters, engaged with numerous vehicles and different teams for the movement of the crane, the rubble, and for the recovery of dead or injured.

“Serious wound for our city” During these hours, the mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, and the councilors Gianna Pentenero and Francesco Tresso arrived via Genova.

“A great pain and bewilderment for this new dramatic accident at work he says: I express my condolences to the families. The City is deeply shaken by what happened. Workplaces should be places to return from and where to be safe. The death of these three workers is a serious wound for the city. The dynamics will be clarified by the competent authorities, the municipal administration is mobilized immediately with prompt intervention, the civil protection, and the municipal police for the necessary operations. As Mayor and on behalf of the entire Municipal Administration we are constantly following the situation and on Monday we will report to the City Council on what happened”, comments Mayor Lo Russo.

The president of the regional council Allasia: “Intensify controls” “On behalf of the Regional Council of Piedmont, I express my condolences for the victims of the umpteenth massacre at work that took place this morning via Genova in Turin that leaves us all speechless.

My thoughts go to the families of the people who have lost their lives, understanding that nothing can alleviate such great pain, but at this time it is important to gather around them. What has happened confirms that there is a need to intensify controls in the workplace. We need a clear awareness of prevention and safety because we cannot continue to die of work“. stay tuned for the news update!!!!!!!

Nigeria's Security Agencies Record Major Breakthroughs in August* Nigeria's security and regulatory agencies have conducted major nationwide operations in August, resulting in hundreds of arrests, large-scale drug seizures, asset recoveries, and multiple convictions. The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, disclosed these figures at a joint security briefing in Abuja. According to Issa-Onilu, the Nigerian Army executed 261 operations nationwide, repelling attacks, dismantling insurgent cells, and rescuing abducted civilians. The NOA Director-General emphasized the importance of intelligence-sharing and public cooperation in disrupting criminal networks.
