GIREI, Adamawa State — The Adamawa State Police Command has reportedly arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a fatal stabbing incident at a hotel in Girei Local Government Area of the state.
According to the information provided to Obaland magazine, the suspect was taken into police custody following the reported death of a victim in the hotel. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing, including the identity of the deceased, the events that preceded the confrontation and the precise location of the hotel, were not immediately available in sufficient detail.
The suspect is also reported to have allegedly confessed to the killing. However, such an alleged confession remains part of the police investigation and should not be treated as proof of guilt until established through due legal process.

In April 2024, for example, The Punch reported that the Adamawa Police Command arrested a 33-year-old butcher, Ibrahim Abubakar, over the alleged stabbing death of his 25-year-old wife, Hajara Sa’adu, in Sabon Gari-Futy, Girei Local Government Area. Police said the incident followed an argument concerning a mobile phone.
The Nation independently reported the same 2024 case, stating that police recovered a blood-stained knife and that the suspect allegedly confessed to the killing.
Adamawa State authorities have previously also expressed concern about security arrangements in hotels. Following another serious hotel-related tragedy in Yola in January 2024, the state government said it would strengthen security measures in hotels, including customer documentation and CCTV installations.
