Akinola Agbede, a landlord, is said to have been killed by thieves who broke into his house (or street) in the Ajuwon area of Akute, which is near the border of Ogun and Lagos states. After a confrontation, hoodlums steal shawarma and kill Ogun landlord

After Agbede reprimanded two suspects who were apprehended for stealing shawarma from a shop close to his residence, it was discovered that the criminals carried out the heinous act.

On June 15, 2023, four others with disabilities kidnap a three-year-old boy in Delta

While discussing the circumstances surrounding Agbede’s death, a local resident, who does not wish to be identified for security reasons, told our correspondent that the two suspects allegedly mobilized the criminals to attack the deceased at his residence after being warned and released by community elders.

The suspects had, according to the source, threatened to cut Agbede’s hand if he struck one of them while they were being paraded around the community for stealing shawarma, prior to the attack.

“We were told one of the boys stole shawarma,” the resident stated. Elders in the area caught the boy and his accomplice when he stole the shawarma and paraded them around. They were forced to kneel and subjected to additional punishments.

“When Agbede arrived, he was puzzled as to why the suspects, who were between the ages of 21 and 25, were stealing. He hit one of them with his hand and inquired as to why they had chosen to steal at such a young age. The community’s elders released the suspects after he left the location.

“Yet, after some time, one of the young men (suspects) let Agbede know that they would cut the hand he utilized in hitting them. The suspects chased Agbede in the area with dangerous weapons, including broken bottles, a day before they attacked him at his house.

However, the source said that Agbede and his family were at home when the suspects and their accomplices broke into the house and used a machete to kill him in front of his wife, (name).

He stated, “Agbede was stabbed to death at midnight on June 8 with a machete.” The criminals were later apprehended by Ajuwon Police Station officers.

“Since he had planned to travel abroad with his wife and children, it was a sad experience for his family. Since their visas were even prepared, he sold his home; He got N10 million and had N1.5 million left over.

The shock of the incident had forced Agbede’s wife and children to leave the house. Because the crime scene was covered in blood, I am unable to visit the house any longer.

While pleading for the landlord’s wrongful death to be brought to justice, the source said the criminals liked to terrorize community residents and business owners. They also said that the suspects and their accomplices robbed a store in the area following the attack.

Our correspondent obtained photographs showing Agbede’s body lying on a hospital bed. The photographs also revealed blood spots.

When contacted, Omolola Odutola, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that three suspects had been arrested.

“The victim’s name is Akinola Agbede, 43,” the PPRO stated. The incident was brought to the attention of the DPO by a concerned citizen. He arrived at the scene and found Agbede slumped over in a pool of blood. He was slashed across the body with a machete by the suspects. He was rushed to an Akute hospital, where he passed away.

“When the suspects arrived at Agbede’s residence, they demanded money and his travel documents. He didn’t give them and they killed him and took off. Three of the boys were taken into custody. The case is with the State Department of Criminal Investigation.
