On Tuesday, the Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare confirmed that a 17-year-old girl had been rescued from her stepfather, Sunday Ezeh, who is alleged to have locked her up for a month and tied her hands and feet.Anambra father ties stepdaughter's hands, feet for one month

Ify Obinabo, the state commissioner for the ministry, confirmed the incident to journalists on Tuesday and referred to the girl as the suspect’s stepdaughter. She belonged to the Nise community in the state’s Awka South Local Government Area.

Obinabo claimed to have taken the girl to Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Amaku, Awka, for medical evaluation and treatment, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.

The chief likewise noticed that a few indigenes of the local area informed the service about Ezeh’s activity, adding that the indigenes said the suspect was a conservative.

“Due to the sensitivity of the case, the ministry collaborated with the local vigilante to rescue the girl and capture the accused before handing him over to the police,” Obinabo stated.

“The young lady supported wounds in all pieces of her body and subsequently was charged for crisis medical procedure in the head. She is recuperating in the teaching hospital’s paediatric ward because the surgery went well.

The commissioner stated that the state had zero tolerance for any kind of child abuse or crime, and he added that those who broke the law would be punished.

She said the case had been moved to the Anambra State Police Order for additional examination.

The victim stated that she had no idea what she had done wrong and that her stepfather had locked her up and starved her as punishment.

She stated, “I cannot remember what I did wrong, but my father told me I messed up the compound with my poo and that my punishment was to be beaten and locked up without food.”

He struck me in the head with a bamboo plank, resulting in my head injury. When they saw how he was beating me, they came to my aid.
