Anambra Government Cracks Down on Sanitation Violations, Seals Hostels, Churches and Market in Awka South.
The Anambra State Government has intensified its environmental sanitation enforcement campaign by sealing several student hostels, churches, and a market in Awka South Local Government Area over alleged violations of sanitation regulations.
The enforcement exercise, carried out by the state’s environmental protection authorities, forms part of ongoing efforts to improve public hygiene, safeguard public health, and ensure compliance with environmental laws across Anambra State.
According to government officials, the affected facilities were found to have breached established sanitation standards, including poor waste management practices and failure to maintain clean surroundings. Authorities said repeated warnings and compliance notices had been issued before the enforcement action was taken.

Residents and operators of commercial and public facilities have been urged to improve waste disposal practices, keep their premises clean, and cooperate with environmental inspectors to avoid sanctions.
