APC Governors Hold Strategic Meeting in Edo, Reaffirm Loyalty to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

Governors elected under Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have concluded a two-day strategic retreat in Benin City, Edo State, with a renewed pledge of unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. They also called on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to rally behind his administration.

The meeting, hosted by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, brought together members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) to review the nation’s socio-economic direction, security landscape, and the party’s internal cohesion.

Addressing the media at the conclusion, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, reaffirmed the governors’ joint commitment to “advance bold reforms, deepen institutional trust, and drive inclusive development across all regions.” He hailed President Tinubu’s decisive economic and social reforms — particularly in fiscal stabilization, energy transition, and infrastructure renewal — as necessary foundations for sustainable growth and social equity.

A notable highlight of the retreat was the formal welcome of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, whose move, alongside his supporters, was described as evidence of the widening national acceptance of President Tinubu’s governance philosophy.

The Forum also acknowledged the recent resignation of APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, viewing it as part of the party’s internal reforms and strengthening of internal democracy.

Reiterating their faith in the APC’s unity and institutional integrity, the governors pledged to uphold the party’s progressive values and leverage innovation, partnership, and inter-governmental cooperation to deliver real, measurable dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

Governor Uzodimma, while concluding the briefing, announced the passing of elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata of Kano State, and called for a minute of silence in his honour.
