Bandits in Kaduna kidnap 774, kill 222 in second quarter

It was recently revealed to Obaland Magazine about Seven hundred and seventy-four people were kidnapped and 222 killed from April to June 2021 in Kaduna State, the state government has revealed.

The state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan who presented the Security Incidents Report for the second quarter of 2021 explained that Kaduna Central and South senatorial zones recorded 159 and 54 deaths respectively while Kaduna north had nine.

Aruwan further explained the number of deaths to kidnappings, banditry, communal clashes, and other criminal activities in the local government areas.

According to the security incidents report, the Commissioner said 8,553 cattle were rustled during the period under review.

Receiving the security report, Governor Nasir El-Rufai said an unconventional approach is required to enable his administration to protect communities in the state.
