The Nigerian women's basketball team, D'Tigress, has advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 FIBA Women's AfroBasket with a dominating 83-47 victory over Cameroon. The six-time and defending champions will now face Senegal in the next stage of the competition. The quarterfinals match started with Cameroon taking an early lead, opening the game on a 4-0 run. However, Nigeria quickly responded, going up 7-4. The depth of Coach Rena Wakama's side soon overwhelmed the Cameroonian team, which appeared fatigued after a demanding late-night qualification clash against Angola. The Nigerian team dominated the game, showcasing their skill and experience. The team's depth and talent were too much for Cameroon to handle, leading to a convincing 36-point victory. D'Tigress will now face Senegal in the semifinals, looking to continue their impressive performance and make a strong bid for their seventh title. The team's next match will be a crucial test of their skills and determination. Banky W’s wife, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, also known as Adesua Etomi have joined the fight against coronavirus pandemic in her home state, Edo, with a video she appears in, where she urged residents to “spread hope, share love”, apparently in response to calls for celebrities from the state to complement the state government’s efforts in checking the spread.

Obaland Magazine, in a recent review on how Nigerian celebrities were checking the spread of the pandemic, had enjoined celebrities from Edo to emulate Edo-Born Radio/TV presenter, IK Osakioduwa. The Magazine named Adesua Etomi-Wellington alongside Mercy Johnson-Okojie, Lancelot Imasuen, Maleke Idowu, Pikolo, MC Edo Pikin, Jonny Drille, MC Casino and others to give back and continue in the part set by Osakioduwa. “My dear brothers and sisters, coronavirus is very real in Edo State; quite a number of people have already been infected in Edo State. To make this go away, we all have a role to play and that means that you and I must play our part; this means stay home to stay safe; we must wash our hands with soap and water, and use sanitizers with high alcohol content.

“If we must go out, we must wear face masks and keep 6 feet distance from the next person. Let’s help the poorest and the most vulnerable”, The award-winning actress urged residents in the 1min, 7secs video

Moses Obakpolor, a renowned arts and culture promoter had maintained, Edo celebrities owe a duty to develop advocacy contents that will point out the adverse effect of coronavirus and best ways out of it.

“Drama or comedy is a spice of life, and it is a mirror that we use to look at society. They should mirror the coronavirus and find solutions in their various productions to stop the pandemic”, Obakpolor told Obaland Magazine

Music producer, and songwriter, Cobhams Asuquo recently shared a photo of himself, Olubankole Wellington, known by his stage name Banky W, as he joins forces with his actress wife Adesua, on a new record, PM News reports.

According to the report, record producer Samklef can also be seen in the studio, so we know this jam is going to be a tune we will all enjoy as it has been a long time coming.
