A devastating bomb explosion has claimed the lives of several travellers in Borno State, Nigeria. The incident occurred on Monday when a vehicle travelling from Kala-Balge to Gamboru-Ngala stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED).

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred around midday, causing widespread panic and chaos. The vehicle, which was carrying several passengers, was badly damaged, and many people were injured or killed in the blast.
The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that 26 people lost their lives in the explosion, including 16 males, four females, and six children. The driver and two other victims sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
However, local sources have disputed the official death toll, claiming that eight people died in the explosion, while many others sustained critical injuries. According to a local source, “Women and children were involved. About eight people died.”
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion. The spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed that the IED was suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram terrorists.
This incident is the latest in a string of bombings and attacks in Borno State, which has been plagued by insurgency and violence in recent years. The authorities are working to enhance security measures and prevent further attacks.
This incident comes just 16 days after a similar explosion occurred on the Maiduguri-Damboa road, which killed eight people and injured 11 others. The police have confirmed that the recent explosion was caused by an IED planted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The government and security agencies are working to bring the perpetrators of these attacks to justice and to restore peace and stability to the region.
The bomb explosion in Borno State is a tragic reminder of the ongoing security challenges in the region. The government and security agencies must continue to work together to prevent further attacks and protect the lives of innocent citizens. The injured victims are receiving treatment, and the authorities are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice.
