Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria Edo State Council to host 2024 Band Training Course for Southern Nigeria

Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubairu Dada Abubakar has Commended the Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria Edo State Council for the hosting right of the 2024 Band Training Course for the Southern part of Nigeria.

The Commissioner who made the commendation during a courtesy visit by the President Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria Edo State Council said the event will no doubt attract youths from across the states involved into Edo state.

He assured that the Ministry will play its role and advised them as a non-profit and voluntary organization to ensure that the booth camp is of immense benefit to the participants.

The President Boys’ Brigade, Nigeria, Edo State Council, Sir (Chief) Bibowei Braie who led other officers on the visit disclosed that the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria is the foremost international interdenominational voluntary uniform organization in the world.

“It was founded in Glasgow, Scotland on 4th October 1883 by William   Alexander Smith, twenty-five years after, it was registered in Nigeria in 1906. The Boys’ Brigade in Nigeria is found in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory and we are glad to inform you that Edo State Council has been granted the hosting right of the 2024  Band training Course for the Southern part of Nigeria, South-South, South-West and South-East from Thursday 4th April to Saturday 6th  April 2024 at Eghosa Anglican Grammar School, New Lagos Road, Benin City” he noted.

According to him, the Bishop of the Church of Nigeria, Anlican Communion, Diocese in Benin, the Rt. Revd. Dr. Peter Imasuen, MFR graciously granted the hosting avenue and the programme will house about 600 officers and Boys

The President who also disclosed that the Edo state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is the grand patron, said the current state office bearers will be decorated on Sunday 7th April 2024 at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, 18 Sokponba road, Benin City by 9.00am.

“We are found in the 18 local government areas of the state and we need a large land space for our state secretariat to assist us in our camp meetings held yearly, “ he added.
