Brake Failure Triggers Multi Vehicle Crash on Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Claims One Life.
One person has died and several others were injured after a multiple vehicle crash along the Kara Bridge axis of the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
The accident, which occurred in the early hours of February 9, 2023, involved a fully loaded 40 foot container truck and several other vehicles, including a commercial bus and private cars. Preliminary reports indicated that the truck suffered brake failure before crashing into vehicles ahead, triggering a chain collision.
The deceased was reported to be a male hawker who died at the scene. Emergency responders evacuated the body and injured victims from the crash site, while the damaged vehicles were removed to help restore traffic flow along the busy highway.
The crash caused significant traffic disruption, with motorists reportedly stranded for hours as rescue and recovery operations continued.
