Early Life and Education

Born into the illustrious Ekomwenrenren Osagie family, Charles Osadiaye Osagie is the eldest of six children. He grew up in a household that valued education, culture, and community. His father, John Adun Osagie, and mother, Christy Ikusmase Adun Osagie, instilled in him the values of hard work and respect for tradition.

Charles began his educational journey at Obaseki Primary School before moving on to Immaculate Conception College, commonly known as ICC, in Benin City. Located along 3rd Circular Road in Benin City, ICC is one of the most prestigious schools in the region, known for producing some of the finest minds in Edo State. During his time there, Charles developed a passion for entertainment, which would soon evolve into a lifelong career.

The Beginning of a Showbiz Empire

At the tender age of 17, before completing his final year in secondary school, Charles ventured into the world of showbiz. Known as Charley Brown, he quickly made a name for himself as a vibrant and influential figure in the entertainment industry. This early start laid the foundation for what would become a 35-year-long career, a journey that is still ongoing and growing stronger.

Over the years, Charley Brown has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the entertainment world. His career has seen him work with top Hollywood producers such as Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, a prominent figure in Nollywood, as well as Isaac Ehizoya from Germany, Emma D. Bogie from Belgium, and the late Nico Denger, whose contributions to the industry are fondly remembered.

Charley Brown’s showbiz endeavours have also seen him collaborate with major brands like Bendel Breweries in Edo State, promoting their products such as Crystal Lager Beer, Star Beer, Small Stout, and Coca-Cola. His efforts have contributed to the promotion of local Edo and Bini artists and musicians, helping to showcase their talents on the global stage.

A Bridge Between Continents: Promoting Edo Culture Abroad

One of Charley Brown’s significant contributions to the entertainment industry has been his efforts to promote Edo and Bini culture beyond the borders of Nigeria. He has organized tours for Edo musicians and artists in Europe, working with notable Edo cultural figures such as the late Osayomore Joseph, Adviser Nowamagba, Olita, Amin Man, Godfather Oke, Ogie Leliski, Sir Love, Ahkobihain the Super Star, and many more. These tours have helped to bring Edo music and culture to new audiences, enriching the global perception of Nigerian arts.

Charley Brown’s reach has extended beyond the Nigerian entertainment scene. He has collaborated with top Nigerian artists such as Tuface Idibia, Shina Peters, Yahoozee, Davido, African China, Jim Iyke, Emeka Ike, 9ice, and many more. With the help of Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, he has continued to build bridges between Nigerian artists and the international community.

In collaboration with individuals like Lucky Oseye and Golden Child (also known as Wendy Jones) in Berlin, Germany, Charlie Brown has further strengthened the cultural connections between Nigeria and Europe, ensuring that Nigerian artists have a platform to showcase their talents abroad.

Expanding Showbiz to Europe

Charley Brown’s showbiz empire is not confined to Nigeria alone. His journey took him to Italy, where he began his European adventure in the entertainment world. In Torino, Italy, Charley Brown started his showbiz career at Sabor Latino Night Club, located at No. 10 Via Stradella, Torino. This was just the beginning of his European ventures.

He went on to open his nightclub, Palladium Night Club, in Torino, solidifying his presence in the European entertainment scene. Not stopping there, Charley Brown expanded his empire to Paris, France, where he opened another branch of Palladium Night Club, located at Priffitt Gare. These establishments have become hubs for African entertainment in Europe, providing a space for Nigerian and African artists to connect with their European fans.

A Lasting Legacy

Charley Brown’s contributions to the world of showbiz are immeasurable. He has spent over three decades promoting Nigerian culture, not only within Nigeria but across Europe. His work has helped to elevate the profiles of countless artists and has strengthened the cultural ties between Nigeria and the global community.

Today, Charley Brown resides in Benin City, but his influence extends far beyond his home address. As a veteran of the entertainment industry, he continues to inspire the next generation of artists and entrepreneurs, proving that with passion and determination, it is possible to build an empire that bridges cultures and brings people together through the power of entertainment.

Charles Osadiaye Osagie, known as Charley Brown, is a cultural ambassador whose contributions to showbiz will continue to resonate for years to come. His legacy is one of perseverance, innovation, and pride in his Edo heritage. As he continues to wax strong in the industry, his influence will undoubtedly inspire future generations of artists and cultural ambassadors.
