Heartland of Owerri coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has admitted that he is facing financial difficulties in the Imo State capital, as the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club is owing to him seven months’ salaries, Obaland Magazine learned.
However, while admitting that things are tough for him at The Naze Millionaires, where matters have been complicated by the continued war against coronavirus, the former Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos gaffer promised no to dump the club.
Rather than think of jumping ship in the midst of the ongoing storm, Ilechukwu added that he is a law-abiding person and a man who does not break agreements; hence his determination to see out his contract to the fullest.
The respected soccer tactician fondly called ‘Camara,’ however, admitted that he could start thinking of moving to another club should things get out of hand at Heartland, but stressed that if he is to eventually decide on leaving the Imo State-owned club it would be only after reaching a mutual agreement with the club’s officials.
He stressed that he does not harbor any regrets for deciding to dump largely comfortable MFM for the cash-strapped Heartland; and affirmed that he is ready to weather the storm for the time being, while hoping for a change of fortune to come soonest at their Wetheral Road base.
The cold-headed coach concluded with an assurance that any likelihood of him eventually leaving Heartland for better trappings elsewhere would only come through the right channels, as he will gladly sit down with the club’s management for discussions on how to iron things out properly so that he could then leave peacefully.

Ilechukwu concluded: “It’s true that things are tough because I am being owed seven month’s salary, but that does not mean I am going to dump the club. Even if I want to leave, it has to be done properly. I have a contract with Heartland
