The Coalition of Benin Socio-Cultural Organization (CBSCO), a foremost body committed to the protection, preservation, and promotion of Benin cultural heritage, has joined family members, colleagues, friends, and associates to felicitate with Prof. Enibokun Idia Ize-Iyamu on her historic appointment as the first female Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In an official statement signed by its Coordinator General, Mr. Osazee Amas Edobor, and Secretary General, Comr. Influence A. Enobun, CBSCO described the appointment as “a square peg in a square hole,” citing Prof. Ize-Iyamu’s wealth of experience, exceptional leadership qualities, and remarkable service in the medical profession over the years.
The group noted that the development reaffirms the recognition of Benin women for their noble character, professional excellence, and leadership potential in their chosen fields. It described the new CMD as “a medical expert of unmatchable quality” whose dedication and capacity for transformative leadership stand beyond question.
“We have no doubt in our minds that Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu will not only meet but surpass the expectations of her employers and indeed the Benin nation in repositioning UBTH for greater excellence,” the statement read.
Expressing gratitude to God Almighty and the ancestors for the appointment, CBSCO prayed for divine wisdom, guidance, and strength for Prof. Ize-Iyamu, while wishing her a peaceful and impactful tenure.
