The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, on Thursday hosted a special Eid-el-Kabir luncheon for troops of 4 Brigade at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ehor in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State.
Addressing the troops during the event held on May 28, 2026, the COAS described Eid-el-Kabir as a significant festival that promotes the virtues of sacrifice, faith and spiritual reflection, values he said align with the profession of soldiering.
He commended the troops for their loyalty, courage, resilience and dedication in ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft and other criminal activities threatening national security.
According to him, the nation remains proud of the troops’ selfless service and commitment towards safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The COAS, who was represented by the Commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, assured personnel of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to addressing welfare concerns affecting troops and members of the army community.
He urged the soldiers to continue upholding the core values of the Nigerian Army in all their engagements.
The Army Chief also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his continued support, leadership and commitment to the welfare and operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Officer Commanding FOB Ehor, Captain Ahmad Mohammed, described the event as an opportunity to reaffirm dedication to duty and inspire troops towards achieving greater standards of professionalism.
He commended the Brigade Commander for his leadership and encouragement, which he said had continued to motivate the troops.
Captain Mohammed also appreciated the Chairman of Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Agie Joseph Samuel; the Enogie of Ehor, Chief Joseph Ogiehor JP, represented by Chief Peter Idemudia; and heads of other security agencies in Ehor for attending the event.
Highlights of the occasion included a luncheon, cultural dance performances, presentation of souvenirs and morale-boosting songs.
