Continued rift between Gov Obaseki and Deputy Philip Shaibu

The 60th anniversary colloquium of the creation of the Midwest Region now Edo and Delta states, depicted tension as the press crew of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, was sent out of the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Centre venue of the ceremony based on “orders from above”

The source said, “We were at the event to cover the proceedings as the deputy governor media team. I got the premonition that things would get ugly when our bus was nearly prevented from going into the complex”.

“After we gained entrance, we were allowed into the hall and we set out to do our job. After a while, the CPS and Ojo pointed at us and the security agencies walked us out. When the Deputy Governor got wind of what happened, he came to the door but, he was told that they were acting on instructions from above. It was at this moment that the deputy governor stormed out,” he added.

The anniversary had several dignitaries in attendance including former Governors of Edo State including Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; Professor Oserheimen Osunbor; former Chief Whip of the Senate, Sir Rowland Owie; Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir. Monday Onyeme; representatives from the governor of Bayelsa State; former deputy governor of Edo State, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe; Secretary to Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie; Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Blessing Agbebaku, among others.

The colloquium was successful but, this action upon the media aide may deepen the rift between Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Philip Shaibu.
