In a continued effort to bolster security across Edo State, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, on Friday, July 19, 2025, embarked on a strategic security tour to Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area.
The CP was accompanied by the Area Commander of Agenebode, ACP Rilwanu Musa; the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Egom Assima Ogar; and other tactical heads from across the state.
As part of his visit, CP Agbonika made a stop at St. Peter’s Grammar School Corps Lodge and the Immaculate Conception Junior Seminary, Ivianokpodi-Agenebode, where he interacted with serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). He assured the corps members of the police command’s unwavering commitment to their protection and welfare.
In a major step toward enhancing rapid response capacity in the area, the Commissioner officially inaugurated a new Tactical Division located at Ivieukwa-Agenebode. The division, he noted, will focus on combating criminal activities, especially in hard-to-reach rural and riverine communities in Etsako East and its neighbouring LGAs.
As part of the initiative, personnel from the State Intelligence Department (SID) have also been deployed to the area for real-time intelligence gathering and surveillance operations.
Speaking during the engagement, CP Agbonika highlighted ongoing proactive strategies adopted by the command to deter crime and respond to security threats swiftly and effectively. He reiterated the readiness of the command to partner with traditional institutions, community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders to maintain peace and order.
The Edo State Police Command also appealed to residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and cooperative by providing timely and actionable information that can help security operatives in crime prevention and enforcement efforts.
