After a five-month break, Nigerian music superstar Davido has finally confirmed his long-rumoured marriage to fellow public figure Chef Chi (full name: Chioma Rowland).
After the death of their son Ifeanyi in October 2022, rumours of the singer’s marriage to Chioma spread in December.
On November 6th, only immediate relatives and close friends attended the traditional wedding at Davido’s father’s home; cameras were not permitted.
It has been claimed that Davido has fully covered Chioma’s wedding price.
The 30-year-old artist acknowledged his marriage to media personality Kie Kie at Toro Entertainment but did not disclose the date he wed Chioma.
He told Kie Kie, “I have never taken this type of blow, just being gone, I have had a lot to think on, time to rest, reflect, a lot of family time, and a time to compose music again, I remade the record. I got married, went some traveling, and experienced many new things. But now that the record is out, we’re eager to hit the road again. “First show in a long time, Great vibes on the beach, brand new album—we’re ready to hit the road.”
Time for Effect
The singer spoke on his return and the next stage of his life and career, saying that he is not only chasing more success but also seeking, innovating, and building more significant initiatives, which is a marked departure from his earlier pursuits.
He said, “In addition to the album and the tour we are planned, we have a new label we are creating, signed two new artistes, a guy and a girl, a 20-year-old girl from Port Harcourt —Morravey, she is also on my Album, and then Logos Olori, he is also on my Album.”
We want to accomplish a lot, including podcasting; we’re in sync with the future of African music, therefore I’m signing writers and directors to our new media firm.
The Impact of Davido
Davido explained how he became so successful at turning every record on which he appeared into a chart-topping hit.
The man who would one day be known as Davido said, “Strange enough, even before I became Davido, I used to have a cousin that produced music, and I was like his engineer, so I would always step in midway through the process and make it better.”
I’d be like ‘play that song for me again but this time add these two more instruments. Eventually, that point was reached. As I told my guy how talented he is, he added, “You should try this.” The action began when I said, “Oya, you go do the rest.”
To paraphrase, “I can always hear music and know how to better it, and I also put my all”; “if we do something together, I want you to succeed”; “I would call you; I have a show, I get show today, come around,” or “you have a show,” and “if I’m not doing anything, I will pull up.”
Expect OBO soon…
The musician stated his intention to put on a spectacular performance at his next concert on April 23 at Tafawa Balewa Square.
One of them is bringing the album’s stars to the house. His plan was to have “everyone on the Album,” including those who don’t reside in the area, attend the performance.
He continued by saying that the concert would be an absolute inferno, so everyone should come prepared. There hasn’t been much to be excited about in Nigeria over the past month, but I think this will change that. OBO is on the way.
The singer also expressed gratitude to his supporters, saying that their genuine affection is what keeps him going.
