The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation after the decomposing body of a 45-year-old tenant, Tolulope Olusanya, was discovered in her apartment in Abeokuta.
According to the police, the landlord, Adebesin Adebayo, raised the alarm on Monday evening after noticing a strong, unpleasant odor coming from Olusanya’s apartment. The door to her apartment was locked from the inside, prompting Adebayo to report the incident to the Kemta Divisional Police station.
Police detectives arrived at the scene and broke into the apartment, where they found Olusanya’s swollen body lying on the bed. The police suspect that the deceased may have committed suicide, but the investigation is ongoing.
Efforts to transport Olusanya’s body to the nearest hospital were hindered due to a lack of medical equipment to prevent potential infection. The police were also unable to reach Olusanya’s immediate relatives.
The scene has been secured and cordoned off, and police detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Olusanya’s death.
