Dickson said public dissatisfaction with the APC-led government would reflect at the ballot.

Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, says President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC, will be defeated in the 2027 general elections if the polls are free and fair.

Speaking on Channels Television’s _Sunday Politics_ on June 28, 2026, Dickson said public dissatisfaction with the APC-led government would reflect at the ballot.Dickson said public dissatisfaction with the APC-led government would reflect at the ballot.

“As leader of the NDC, and as a Nigerian who knows the feelings and yearnings of Nigerians… we believe that the APC government, the APC as a party, not just the President, will be defeated massively,” he said.

He called for an open process and urged authorities to allow all parties to contest without interference. “Allow every party that wants to contest. You can only defeat them in an electoral contest. So, let us have a free and fair election,” he added.

Dickson said the NDC is open to conversations with other opposition parties ahead of 2027, but hopes any alliance will back NDC candidates.

“We are not claiming superiority. After the nomination process has ended, we will move into another phase of discussions. Whether there will be an agreement, I don’t know. We will try,” he stated.

His comments come amid ongoing realignments involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra Governor Peter Obi

Dickson dismissed a suit seeking the party’s deregistration as “frivolous” and politically motivated. He said the NDC met all legal and constitutional requirements for registration and is confident in INEC and the judiciary.

He also rejected claims against the NDC’s logo, arguing that the peace sign is internationally recognised and has been used for decades by global and Nigerian leaders.
