Dignitaries Attend Service of Songs for Late Esther Idahosa in Benin

Prominent personalities on Friday converged on Benin City for a service of songs held in honour of late Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa, mother of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Denis Idahosa.

Among those in attendance was the Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, who attended the event alongside her husband, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The service was organised to celebrate the life and legacy of Madam Idahosa, who passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at the age of 95.

The event attracted top government officials, political leaders, clergy and associates of the Idahosa family, who gathered to pay tribute and offer condolences.

Notable dignitaries present included retired Gen. Charles Airhiavbere, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, former President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Felix Omobude, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sheriff Agbebaku, Hon. Frank Okiye, Hon. Vincent Uwadiae, former Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole, among others.

The large turnout highlighted the respect and admiration late Madam Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa enjoyed during her lifetime.
