Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, an accomplished public health leader and the Director General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency, continues to strengthen her voice on the global stage. Only 5 days after her inspiring participation at the high-level summit in Glasgow, Scotland, Dr Ogboro-Okor is set to join other influential Nigerian leaders in New York City, USA, for the highly anticipated Town Hall Series powered by News Central TV and supported by FixPolitics.

This new engagement marks another important milestone for Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor as she continues her mission to empower the Nigerian diaspora and expand conversations about its influence on the country’s future. Her presence at major global events underscores her commitment to connecting Nigerians abroad with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to national development.

A Powerful Town Hall with a Bold Question

Themed “Will Nigeria’s Diaspora Be Silenced Again in 2027?”, the Town Hall Series will explore one of the most pressing issues for Nigerians living abroad — their ability to participate in the democratic and socio-economic progress of their homeland.

Set to take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Lagos Restaurant & Lounge, Times Square, 727 7th Avenue, New York City, the event will begin at 10 AM EDT (3 PM WAT). Nigerians across the globe will also be able to watch live via News Central TV on DStv (CH 422), GOtv (CH 23), StarTimes (CH 274), and streaming platforms including YouTube @NewsCentralTV.

Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor will share the stage with other distinguished leaders such as:

  • Hon. Frank Onyekwelu – President General, Nigerian Citizens Association South Africa

  • Sir Barr Chibuzo Ubochi – Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe

  • Cllr Lade Hephzibah Olugbemi – Chief Executive, The Nous Organisation

  • Dr Uthay Odims – Project Director, National Youth Summit Africa

  • Dubem Gbuji – African Global Health Consultant & Founder, Team54Project

  • Dr Innocent Obiegbu – President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, New York, USA

  • AbdulRasheed Abubakar – Publisher, The Diaspora Today Magazine

  • Dr Brian O’Reuben – Executive Chairman, The Sixteenth Council & Founder, Africa Economic Summit, London

This impressive lineup of thought leaders promises a thought-provoking discussion on how to give the Nigerian diaspora a stronger voice ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor: Championing the Diaspora Voice

For years, Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor has been an advocate for amplifying the contributions of Nigerians abroad. In her role as Director General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency, she has worked to create pathways for Nigerians in the diaspora to invest, innovate, and influence policies back home. Her efforts include strengthening networks of professionals, promoting economic collaborations, and highlighting the intellectual and financial capital that the diaspora represents.

Her participation at the Glasgow summit earlier this year showcased her ability to connect with global leaders and push forward the conversation about inclusive governance and sustainable development. Now, by joining the Town Hall Series in New York, she continues to bring visibility to the issues that affect millions of Nigerians living and working across the world.

Why This Town Hall Matters

The Nigerian diaspora contributes significantly to the country’s economy, sending billions of dollars in remittances annually, fostering entrepreneurship, and sharing valuable expertise. Yet, the question of whether this powerful community will have a meaningful say in 2027 remains urgent.

The Town Hall aims to address key concerns such as:

  • Will Nigerians abroad gain better voting rights and representation?

  • How can their economic power be converted into political influence?

  • What role will government agencies, like the Edo State Diaspora Agency led by Dr. Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, play in bridging the gap?

By tackling these issues head-on, the event hopes to inspire practical strategies to ensure the diaspora is not left behind in shaping Nigeria’s future.

A Call to Action

As the countdown to 2027 begins, Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor stands as a reminder that meaningful change requires consistent advocacy, dialogue, and collaboration. Her presence in New York is not just symbolic; it is a powerful statement about the role of Nigerian professionals abroad and their right to influence the nation’s democratic and economic trajectory.

Nigerians worldwide, from students and professionals to business leaders and activists, are encouraged to tune in, join the conversation, and advocate for greater inclusion. This is more than a Town Hall; it is a call for unity and action.
