The Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday arraigned five suspects before an Edo State High Court over the alleged abduction of one Mr. Jeffery Iseriere in Benin City.
The accused persons — Ozo Obasuyi, Charles Edeho, Enofe Marvis, Johnbull Edoleyi, and Jeffery Igbinoba — appeared before Justice A. N. Erhabor, who ordered their remand in prison custody pending further legal proceedings.
According to court records, the suspects allegedly abducted Mr. Iseriere on June 13, 2025, at Eyean axis along the Benin-Auchi Road in Edo State.
The offence, as stated in the charge, contravenes Section 2(1) of the Edo State Kidnapping Prohibition Law of 2013.
Justice Erhabor subsequently adjourned the case to a later date for the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to provide legal advice, which will determine the next phase of the trial.
