In the unfortunate incident reported on December 2, 2023, the Ebonyi State Police Command provided details of a 300-level student, Ayogu Evans, who tragically lost his life in a road crash while allegedly being chased by police officers.
The police stated that Evans sped off during a routine stop-and-search, leading to a pursuit that ended in a fatal accident on Oriuzor Road.
The police insist they did not abandon the scene but conveyed Evans to the hospital after citizens’ intervention.
The Commissioner of Police assured a thorough investigation into the matter and emphasized citizens’ support while promising disciplinary actions for any misconduct by police officers.
