As the governorship election draws near in EDO State, the Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubairu Dada Abubakar has urged youths to desist from being used as thugs, shun violence and ensure that a candidate with integrity emerges the next governor.
Speaking to a delegation of Niger Delta Youth Council who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Benin City, the Commissioner said youths should be educated on their role in the forth coming election because they have the capacity to influence the votes.
According to him, ” the youths should know that the nation is in their hands and they should know who will be in the best position to serve their interest by looking at the antecedents of the aspirants from the various political parties.
“The Youths are expected to do the right thing at all times and they can also influence others, including their parents and relations on the way to go during the election. As for the Ministry we are open to collaboration to ensure that the youths are properly guided on their roles as nation builders,” he added.
The President of Niger Delta Youth Council, Amb. Mamamu Ben disclosed that they will ensure youths are not going to be used as thugs and they will be empowered to fight against insecurity and drug abuse in the society.
