Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Wednesday declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is firmly positioned to dominate the 2027 general elections in the state, assuring that the party would deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor made the declaration at a rally held at the Garrick Memorial Ground, Ekenwan Road, Benin City, where members of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party (LP) formally defected to the APC.

Addressing party leaders and supporters in a carnival-like atmosphere, Okpebholo attributed the wave of defections to what he described as visible and practical development under his administration.
“I thank members of the APC for the unity we enjoy in the party. We have a good father in President Tinubu, and we are proud of him. We are ready to deliver Edo for APC in 2027,” the governor said.
Projecting confidence ahead of the next election cycle, he added: “2027 and 2.5 million votes are assured for President Tinubu.
The President should relax and come to Edo to commission projects, not to campaign, because the state is settled for the APC.”
Okpebholo maintained that the state’s development strides are closely tied to federal collaboration and support, stressing that the administration’s performance would outweigh campaign rhetoric.
“All we are doing in Edo is practical governance. The people can see the development. Every kobo spent in Edo State comes through the support of President Tinubu,” he stated.
The governor also extended an invitation to Arise Television anchors, Oseni Rufai and Reuben Abati, to visit Edo State for an independent assessment of ongoing and completed projects.
“I invite Rufai and Abati to Edo State. I will personally take them on a tour of projects. After inspecting what we have done, they will not only campaign but also vote for President Tinubu in 2027,” he said.
He further noted that with 31 governors currently elected on the APC platform nationwide, the ruling party remains politically strong, adding that more alignments are expected ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reaffirming his administration’s loyalty to the APC and the presidency, the governor concluded that Edo State is politically secure for the ruling party, anchored on party unity and sustained development efforts.
