Edo Court Sentence Three Citizens For Impersonation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin Zonal Command have arraigned three citizens of the state to court for offences bordering on impersonation, neglect to prevent felony and attempting to obtain by false pretence.

The EFCC, Edo State zone in a statement stated that the defendants were arraigned before the Justice Ikponwonba of the Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.

During the trial the trio pleaded guilty to the charge against them. The prosecution counsel however pleaded with the court to convict and sentence the defendants.

The defence counsels, Iyangbe Joshua Osobase and Vitalis Nwafor however urged the court to honour the plea bargain agreement between their clients and the prosecution.

The Judge, Justice Ikponwonba convicted and sentenced the defendants accordingly. Omoreboghae was sentenced to three years imprisonment with option of fine of N500, 000, Oluwafemi was sentenced to one year imprisonment or a fine of N200, 000 and Precious was sentenced to one year imprisonment with an option of #100, 000 fine.
