Edo Govt Extends Compassion to Dangote Accident Survivor After 11 Months in Hospital

The Edo State Government has shown a rare touch of humanity as the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Paddy Iyamu, paid a courtesy visit to one of the surviving victims of the Dangote truck accident in Auchi.

The victim, who has been battling for survival at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for the past 11 months, finally received official empathy through the Commissioner’s visit.

Earlier calls had been made for the state government to reach out to victims of the tragic incident, in order to prevent further crisis or road blockades along the busy Auchi axis. That call became even more urgent after another fatal accident occurred near the Omega Fire Ministries International Headquarters, sparking renewed public outcry.

Social commentator and activist VDM had also taken it upon himself to challenge the neglect of victims, keeping public attention on their plight and demanding action from relevant authorities. His intervention, coupled with growing public concern, ensured that the matter remained in the spotlight until government response came.

The gesture from the Edo Government has been widely commended as an act that places humanity above politics. For many, it is a reminder that governance should always prioritize the protection of lives over political grandstanding.

Kudos have also gone to VDM for his relentless advocacy, which played a vital role in ensuring the cries of the helpless were heard.
