Edo Govt Seeks Collaboration with Labour Union By: Agweda Clementina

Edo State Government has stated its position to continually prioritize the welfare of workers and collaborate with various Labour unions in the state to ensure that workers demand are given the necessary attention.

 The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq. made this known during a familiarization visit by the Women Committee of the Edo State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in his Office, Government house, Benin City.

Okungbowa disclosed that the Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration in the state has continually put measures in place to ensure every worker is equipped with the right skills to carry out their assigned duties efficiently.

He therefore called for the support of all stake-holders to support   the ongoing reforms across all sectors of the state and reassured the visiting union members of Government’s commitment to achieving economic prosperity for the people.

According to him, the Government has placed emphasis on the development of critical sectors of the state, including infrastructure, education, and manpower development among others, just as he said all hands must be on deck to ensure the vision of Transformation of his Excellency, Governor Obaseki is achieved.

Earlier in her address, Chairperson of the Women Committee, Comrade (Mrs. ) Philomena Osabuohien, thanked the Head of Service for the audience granted the group and pledged their unalloyed support to the state Government ongoing reforms in the Civil/Public Service.

 She gave a brief of the Committee’s activities and achievements recorded so far, and informed the Head of Service of their proposed International Women day celebration slated for 29th  and 30th  of March.
