Edo NAWOJ Seeks Partnership with First Lady’s Office on Women’s Initiatives

The Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has paid a courtesy visit to the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Anani, to discuss collaborative efforts in promoting gender-related initiatives.

The delegation was led by NAWOJ Chairperson Adesuwa Ehimuan, the delegation highlighted the association’s role in amplifying women’s voices and sought support for key programs, including International Women’s Day, World Menstrual Hygiene Day, and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Mrs. Anani commended NAWOJ for its contributions in bringing attention to issues affecting women and girls. She emphasized the need for greater media focus on women’s achievements and societal progress.

 

“We want to see more stories about our gender and how we can do things better. It’s a collective effort; we can’t do it alone. We must build a network,” she stated.

She further stressed the importance of prioritizing gender equality and equity, reaffirming the First Lady’s commitment to supporting initiatives that uplift women.

The visit reinforced the shared commitment of NAWOJ and the First Lady’s office to advancing the rights and welfare of women in Edo State.
