Edo NUJ Commends 4 Brigade Over Sustained Fight Against Insecurity

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has commended the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army for its combat readiness and sustained efforts in addressing insecurity across the state.

The Chairman of the Edo State NUJ, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, gave the commendation on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, when he led members of the union on a courtesy visit to the Brigade Headquarters in Benin City.

Dr. Alenkhe said the union had carefully observed the achievements of the Brigade Commander since assuming office, noting that the relative peace currently enjoyed in Edo State could be attributed to the operational preparedness and commitment of troops under his command.
He praised the Commander for his efforts in restoring peace and stability, while emphasizing the need for stronger collaboration between the military and the media to promote effective information dissemination and responsible reporting.

In his response, the Commander, 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, described the visit as timely and significant.
He acknowledged the vital role of the media in shaping public perception and enhancing public understanding of military operations.

Brigadier General Balogun assured the NUJ of the Brigade’s continued support and partnership, adding that the Army would work closely with journalists to promote peace, professionalism, and accurate information management and dissemination in Edo State.
