Edo Police Arrest Four Suspected Eiye Members, Recover Weapons in Uromi Operation

The Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and recovered firearms during a targeted operation in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area.

Police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, carried out the operation in the early hours of March 24, 2026, around 2:00 a.m., leading to the arrest of the suspects identified as Solomon Oboigbe (27), Fidelis Omale (26), Julius Oseyomon (64), and Abraham Erumosele Momo (54), all residents of Uromi.
During the raid, officers recovered four pump-action guns, nine live cartridges, and three expended cartridges from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are members of the Eiye Confraternity and that the firearms were acquired through illegal means.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying its crackdown on cultism and other violent crimes, as well as ongoing efforts to rid the state of illegal firearms.

Police said the suspects have been charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.

The Command also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information, assuring that all reports would be handled with strict confidentiality, as it continues efforts to ensure safety and security across the state.
