Edo Police Arrest Igbinedion School Bullying Suspects, Set for Juvenile Court Proceedings”

The Edo State Police Command has apprehended all students implicated in a bullying incident at the Igbinedion Education Centre. Authorities confirmed that the suspects, whose identities are being kept confidential due to their minor status, are set to face the juvenile court.
Police spokespersons emphasized that the arrests followed a thorough investigation prompted by recent reports and social media outcry over the alleged bullying. “We are committed to ensuring justice while protecting the rights of all minors involved,” a senior police officer stated.
The development has drawn attention to the wider issue of student welfare and school safety across Nigeria, sparking conversations among parents, educators, and policymakers about preventive measures and the responsibilities of educational institutions. Experts note that early intervention, counseling, and clear disciplinary frameworks are critical in addressing bullying in schools.
While legal proceedings are set to continue under juvenile law, the Edo State Police have pledged ongoing monitoring and engagement with the school administration to prevent recurrence and safeguard students’ well being.
