The Edo State Police Command has assured the public of its determination to rescue the three seminarians abducted during an attack on Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, Ivianokpodi-Agenebode, on July 11, 2025, which also claimed the life of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, said he has personally been leading operations for the rescue of the abducted students. He disclosed that tactical units, including the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, were immediately deployed, while a Tactical Division has been established in Ivieukwa Community to strengthen security operations and improve technical intelligence gathering in the area.
The Command also confirmed it is working closely with security experts and sister agencies, deploying advanced technical intelligence and coordinated operations to secure the safe return of the boys.
Acknowledging a recent viral video showing the seminarians, the Police assured the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, parents, and the public that “no stone will be left unturned” to ensure their safe release. The statement expressed deep sympathy to the families and commended their patience and cooperation during the ongoing operations.
The Edo State Police Command appealed to members of the public to remain calm and supportive, stressing that updates will be provided as progress is made, without compromising the safety of the victims.
