The Edo State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing fight against kidnapping and violent crimes with the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests were made following credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer of Jattu Division on May 15, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m., that one of the suspects linked to the abduction of a woman identified as Ibrahim Jemila had been sighted at Jattu Market.
Jemila was reportedly kidnapped on May 13, 2026, and later released by her abductors.
According to a statement issued by the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikioedem, operatives of the division, working alongside members of the Edo State Security Corps, swiftly mobilized to the market where three suspects were arrested.
The suspects are:
Nura Dahiru, 22
Ibrahim Yakubu, 25
Abubakar Inusa, 23
Police investigations revealed that two of the suspects, Nura Dahiru and Ibrahim Yakubu, were positively identified by the victim and another witness as members of the gang responsible for the abduction.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to flushing out criminal elements from Edo State and ensuring the safety of residents.
He also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and useful information that could aid ongoing efforts to combat crime across the state.
