The Edo State Police Command has issued a strong warning against any planned cult-related activities, particularly the annual 7/7 celebration associated with the Neo Black Movement (NBM) also known as Aye Confraternity scheduled for today, July 7 2025.
Acting on credible intelligence, the Command said it has uncovered plots by certain cult groups to cause unrest across the state under the guise of the 7/7 founders’ day celebration.
In a proactive move, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, has ordered massive deployments of personnel and resources to strategic locations across Edo State to forestall any breach of peace.
The Commissioner warned parents, guardians, hoteliers, bar operators, lounge owners, and managers of other recreational facilities not to allow their premises to be used for any unlawful gatherings. He emphasized that anyone found harbouring or facilitating cult-related meetings or celebrations would face the full weight of the law.
He also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant, security-conscious, and to report any suspicious activity or gathering to the police via the following hotlines: 08077773721 or 08037646272.
The Edo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and warned all criminal elements to steer clear of the state.
