The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has decorated 286 officers recently promoted from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at a ceremony held at the Police Officers’ Mess in Benin City.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, congratulated the newly promoted officers for their dedication, resilience, and hard work, describing their elevation as both a reward for past performance and a call to greater service.

He emphasized that promotion in the Force comes with higher expectations, urging the officers to demonstrate increased professionalism, discipline, and commitment to community-focused policing in line with global best practices.
The CP also charged them to embrace greater responsibility and remain steadfast in upholding the core values of integrity, accountability, and service to the people.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by ASP Thomas Ogheneovo, who expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Police Service Commission, and the management of the Edo State Police Command for motivating officers through timely promotions.
He noted that the recognition has significantly boosted the morale of the beneficiaries, adding that they have pledged to rededicate themselves to duty, uphold the ideals of the Nigeria Police Force, and serve the people of Edo State with integrity, discipline, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
