The Edo State Government has commenced the of demolition of blockway structures and buildings in the state.
The government notified the public that all structures found at illegal points in the state shall be demolished
However the Edo State Government gave extension in some parts of Benin metropolis, subject to the government’s urban renewal drive. These recent phase of demolition is focused on mostly business environments, in the Government Reservation Area (GRA)
The demolition which commenced last week, is being carried out by the Officials of the Edo State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The exercised started with the removal of illegal structures erected on the road side which block easy movement. The officials stated the demolition came after the expiry of notices and warnings to the owners of the property.
The government planning officials brought down the illegal structures around Emmanuel Igodan and adjacent roads, limit Road, Osadebay Road, Country Home Road, and some other roads at the Government Reservation Area, in Benin City.
The demolition of Illegal structures which commenced last week is set, to continue in the days to come. As the planning committee stated that the demolition will last for weeks.
