Edo State Government Commends Nigeria Forest Security Service

The Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, praised the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) for their efforts in maintaining security in the State. This was during a courtesy visit to the Office of the First Lady at Government House in Benin City.

Mrs. Anani expressed her appreciation for the NFSS’s hard work, saying, ‘On behalf of the Government, I want to thank you for what you do, because it is not an easy job. Combing the forest, putting your lives at risk, for the people of Edo State to be safe. We really appreciate.’

She assured the NFSS that the State Government would provide necessary support, saying, ‘We will ensure you have what you need to enhance productivity and effectively carry out your duties.’

Mrs. Anani also highlighted the importance of the NFSS’s role in curbing banditry and kidnapping, saying, ‘The Governor is really appreciative of the work you do. He knows you are important in the forest, because you go a long way to curb banditry and kidnapping.’

Furthermore, she emphasized the State Government’s commitment to supporting the NFSS by providing necessary resources and creating a conducive environment for their success.

The Leader of the delegation, Assistant Commander General, Segun Odion Agbavboa, acknowledged the office of the Coordinator and highlighted the NFSS’s mandate. ‘The aim of NFSS is to secure our communities from banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping.

We have Local, Area, State, and National commands. We have men in the different local government areas of Edo State gathering intelligence for effective curbing of criminal activities in the State, and hope to work with your office for effective service to the State and Nation at large.’

He also appealed to the State Government to address the NFSS’s challenges and assured their collaboration in maintaining the safety of Edo people.
