Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu has enjoined the good people of the state to join the Governor Monday Okpebholo led administration in the task of building a Progressive and United State to make the state the Big Heart of the Nation.
The Commissioner who made the call in a statement to Commemorate the 34th anniversary of the state in Benin City, stated that with Unity, there will be progress in the state.
According to the Commissioner, “August 27th, marks a significant milestone in the history of our great state. It’s been 34 years since Edo State was created in 1991. As we commemorate this day, we reflect on our journey, achievements, and the progress we’ve made as a people.
“Edo State was carved out of the former Bendel State on August 27, 1991. Since then, our state has grown in leaps and bounds, becoming a hub for culture, commerce, and innovation.

Over the years, we’ve made significant strides in various sectors which Governor Okpebholo is poised to sustain to ensure that Edo people get the dividends of democracy
Ohonbamu noted that “As we celebrate our creation day, we’re reminded of the work still ahead and that the Governor Monday Okpebholo led administration has embarked on the onerous task to Improve infrastructures across the state, build the first flyover bridges in Benin City, Enhance our roads, revive the transportation systems with the New Edo Transport Service and ensure functional public services, Foster economic growth amongst the people, Support local businesses, attract investments, and create jobs and a safe environment for the citizens.

While urging Edo people to key into the five Points Agenda for Edo State Development,- Security, Health Care, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Food Sufficiency and Education (SHINE ), “the Commissioner observed that this celebration remind us of our shared history, our progress, and our collective potential. Together, we’ll continue to build a brighter future.”
The Commissioner disclosed that Governor Okpebholo will no doubt make history that will become the yardstick by which to judge future leaders of the state considering the pace of development going on across the state in road construction, ongoing upgrading of Primary Health Centers across the state, Renovation of Schools, revival of moribund water schemes.
“The reorganized and restructured Edo State Security Corps, the agricultural reforms to ensure food Sufficiency in the state and provision of electricity in the rural communities and other projects are some of the projects executed by the government,” he added.
